The Effective Team Leader/Supervisor Workshop

1-Day Course (May be 1 or 2 days if delivered in-house) 

OVERALL AIM:

To develop, hone and improve leadership skills in order to enhance effectiveness within the organisation and handle the everyday issues and challenges more professionally. This is a practical, interactive, ‘hands-on’ course (with some fun thrown in!).

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE:

This course is aimed at new Team Leaders/Supervisors and those who have had no formal training in leadership skills. Many middle managers have also greatly benefited from this course since professional management skills are relevant to all levels of the organisation. The course is also useful for those wishing to update/refresh their skills.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of this session delegates will be able to:

  • Identify personal qualities and skills of effective team leaders
  • Recognise the importance of setting clear objectives for their staff (with their staff's input) to improve performance
  • Use the principle of MBWA (Management By Walking About) to check standards are maintained and ensure team members are given feedback
  • Recognise the importance of trust in our relationships
  • Identify 3 sources of authority
  • Recognise motivators and demotivators in the workplace
  • Have a quiet word with a team member
